Children’s Mini Camp at Lautoka, Fiji

Children’s Mini Camp at Lautoka, Fiji

‘We may make our plans, but God has the last word,’

Proverbs 16:1

The children of Lautoka Corps, Fiji Division, were excited and looking forward to their one-day camp, but when the corps officers (church leaders) announced that the children were sleeping over, the parents were even more excited!

Children walked in for registrations at 5pm, with a total of 80 children signing up for the camp, supported by 15 youth, 13 parents and 9 leaders. The first session was held the night of registration, followed by supper and lights out at 9.30pm.

The next morning the leaders tried to contain the noise and excitement of the children, with early risers awake bright and early at 5am, well before breakfast which was served at 7am. But nothing was more important than witnessing the joy of the children when they came together to learn about their faith in Jesus and the hope he brings and their love for each other.

During the second and third session later in the day, the leaders divided children according to their age group and delegated three leaders per group who worked with the children to assist them with their worksheets and craft and to help them understand the Bible stories.

It takes a lot of patience, self-control and, most of all, love while serving these young children. And we are grateful and feel at peace that this ministry belongs to Christ. We are working with Christ to help these young ones know their Saviour and understand that they can have hope in him and practice their love for Christ by loving others.

The officers are so grateful for the effort that the leaders, parents and youth put together to support our children—what great teamwork!

The lessons were prepared by leaders from Fiji Divisional Headquarters and the camp leaders were very grateful for the resources.

On the final day, the excited and tired children returned home by 1pm.
