I stumbled across Samuel Jackson Reed’s music on my YouTube feed. In his videos, he stands on riverbanks, sits in gardens or sings from the comfort of his cosy, lived-in kitchen, complete with dirty dishes in the sink. It’s usually just him and his guitar, occasionally joined by a friend or his wife, singing classic worship songs like Refiner’s Fire and Blessed Be Your Name. One of my favourite parts is the familiar, nostalgic sound of birdsong in the background. Between songs, he also prays or shares his original poetry. When I’m feeling overwhelmed or anxious, his music helps me slow down, return to a place of peace and remember the nearness of God. (Reviewed by Nina Rajan)
