Walk with Me
Each of us has our own significant way of connecting with God. I have always enjoyed being outdoors. Whenever I need to be refreshed, renewed or strengthened in body, mind or spirit, a walk through a park, a stroll along a riverbank or the seashore, or simply being still and observing the world around me brings a calming and restorative effect.
A few years ago, I started combining photographs I had taken with Scripture verses, and these became a constant reminder of the presence, comfort, grace and joy that I have in Christ. Then a significant lifestyle change came six years ago with Covid-19.
I was serving in the UK at the time, and we were in lockdown for a significant period, working from home for close to a year before we could return to the office. During my daily one-hour walk, God challenged me about the importance of making the most of these moments, taking time to focus specifically on Him and what He wanted to reveal to me. One of the words of encouragement He gave me during this time was this: ‘Don’t live in the shadow of uncertainty but live in the light of My faithfulness’.
This is a challenging thought, but the more I continue to reflect on this, the more I appreciate how rich it is. Walking in the shadow of uncertainty causes me to lose focus, but walking in the light of God’s faithfulness enables me to be refreshed and renewed. It’s all about perspective really and how I choose to focus my life. I know where I prefer to be—living in the light and knowing His refreshment and renewal daily in my life regardless of my circumstances.
