Open Our Eyes

On Sunday 27 September, Salvation Army corps and centres across the territory acknowledged the International Day of Prayer for victims and survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking with the theme ‘Open our eyes’. General Lyndon Buckingham called The Salvation Army to join together and pray intentionally and specifically for all victims who are trapped in the most dreadful clutches of modern slavery and human trafficking. Resources were provided to support corps and centres participating including recorded sermons, prayer prompts, prayer station ideas, and Bible studies for adults, youth and children. Over 30 corps across the territory participated. Modern Slavery Response Coordinator, Major Sammy Millar said, ‘It’s encouraging to see momentum build for the day of prayer. My hope is that praying for justice becomes a part of our daily rhythms as disciples of Jesus.’
